Abigail

2024

Matt Bettinelli-Opin, Tyler Gillett

Vampires, Slasher, Mystery, Scary

Another great horror film from this director duo, they were inspired by 'Dracula’s Daughter' (1936).
This is a super fun and fresh Vampire flick, at this point there have been so many vampire films its getting difficult to come up with new material, and we appreciate this fun new modern story.
We highly recommend that you do not watch the trailer or read reviews because it will spoil the plot and twists.
Great special effects and an incredible set create an unsettling atmosphere in the mansion; the real life Guinness Mansion in Dublin was used for filming.
Really great bloody and gory deaths, some scenes made our stomachs turn; apparently they used all the fake blood in Ireland and had to import some.
The very fleshed out characters are great and are complimented by excellent acting from the whole cast, especially Weir playing the daughter, and sadly, Cloud has passed away, this was his last film.
We think this film needed to bake a little longer, seasoned horror fans may find it somewhat predictable and not that scary; but we hope the directors keep improving and creating more for us to watch.
Overall, Abigail is an entertaining and funny horror film that offers a unique twist for the vampire genre.
Features Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Alisha Weir, William Catlett, Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Giancarlo Esposito, and Matthew Goode.

Did you see the twist coming? Post your thoughts below, but no spoilers!
