A Nightmare On Elm Street

1984

Wes Craven

Must-See, Mystery, Slasher, Paranormal, Very Scary, Original

This is without a doubt our favourite Slasher flick, a must-see classic masterpiece in every single way.
A terrifying and iconic horror villain to haunt your dreams is born, you will recognize the costume and especially the infamous glove.
The special effects are very 80's in a good way, there were groundbreaking but today they maybe make it a little less scary (CGI didn't exist),
Ultimately the film is still terrifying thanks to the psychological dread, jump scares, gore, and incredible deaths you will always remember.
This is Depp's film debut, he was cast because the director's daughter thought he was hot, and him and Langenkamp both give great performances.
This is such a cool and unique story; Craven got the idea for this film from the Sudden Nocturnal Death Syndrome, wherein people die in their sleep while experiences nightmares.
There are many sequels, a remake, and a crossover film with another franchise; we recommend you watch 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors' (1987), 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master' (1988), the meta 'Wes Craven’s New Nightmare' (1994), the franchise crossover 'Freddy vs. Jason' (2003), and the 2010 remake which is also excellent.
Features Heather Langenkamp, Johnny Depp, Robert Englund, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, Charles Fleischer, Joseph Whipp, Lin Shaye, and others.
