This remake of the 1984 original is very much a replica that follows the same plot with some surface level changes to scenes, and we think it is must-see film nearing the greatness of the original.
We believe the film is underrated due to review bombing from upset fans that did not want a remake of their beloved franchise, and is definitely worth watching.
We do wish that the director had taken more of a recreation route with fresh and innovative ideas, but as it stands, this is a great replica for a modern audience that may find the effects and lack of CGI cheesy.
The film has a great score and eerie atmosphere, and the CGI really helps further the dream sequences.
The villain is played by a different actor and is more evil than the original, notably missing are Freddy Krueger's comical and iconic one liners.
Interestingly, this remake stays more true to the original script which was changed because of currents events at the time of production in 1984 (pedophiles).
The film is very scary, intense and graphic, with lots of jump scares.
Which film do you prefer, the original or this remake? Is the story better told with practical effects or with CGI? Let us know in the comments.
