Crimson Peak

"Ghosts are real, this much I know"
This gothic ghost story by Guillermo Del Toro takes place in a decaying mansion known as Crimson Peak and is set against the backdrop of a snowy and frigid atmosphere that embodies winter and it's hardships.
The aesthetic of the film is beautiful, no expense spared in the incredible sets, decadent period costumes, and great special effects.
The excellent score really adds to the weight of the story, enhancing the mystery, romance, and horror.
The star studded cast gives great performances as well.
We do wish this film low on gore was a little scarier, it could have taken more inspiration from other films being released in the 2010's, a decade obsessed with the paranormal genre.
