The Shining

This film is based off of a Stephen King story, and it is widely called the scariest horror movie ever made, and we agree, it is a must-see masterpiece.
Interestingly, when the film was released, it did not get a good reception.
While you can go visit the actual The Overlook Hotel seen in many exterior shots, the incredible sets were actually all constructed, including the maze which the crew got lost in while filming.
This may have you flicking on the lights every few minutes, it is so creepy, scary, and tense; great special effects gore and makeup, with a few jump scares.
The film has iconic characters, thanks to the outstanding acting and direction; Kubrick made them do over 50 takes for most scenes.
There is also great camerawork, an iconic score, and many quotable lines; the film has been referenced hundreds of times in movies and tv, our favourite is in the movie 'Ready Player One' (2018) .
A sequel was released 40 years later 'Doctor Sleep' (2019), it isn't anything like the original, but we recommend you watch it sometime.
